#2 - Space Clusters Across Europe
Space is a growing market with many startups emerging. Business Incubation Centres are helping inspire and work with entrepreneurs to turn ideas into fully commercial startup companies. In this webinar, we hear perspectives from space clusters across Europe in the UK, France, Portugal, and Luxembourg. Dr Joanna Hart – Harwell Space Cluster Development Manager, UKRI - Science and Technology Facilities Council Dr Joanna Hart is the Harwell Space Cluster Development Manager, working with stakeholders to strengthen the Harwell Space Cluster by attracting new companies to Harwell Campus and helping those already there to grow. Previously, she was Head of Evaluation and Impact at Satellite Applications Catapult and spent nine years in investment banking focused on the telecoms sector. Romain Erny – Director, Mobility and Space, Choose Paris Region Romain leads the Paris Region’s consulting practice for the urban mobility and new space sectors. He has more than 10 years of experience advising companies looking to expand and connect to the regional ecosystem. He is co-founder of the Space Paris Region initiative. Dr Chiara Manfletti – President, Portuguese Space Agency Chiara Manfletti has dual Italian and German nationality. She holds degrees in aeronautical engineering, Space Studies, and history, plus a PhD from the German University of Aachen. She worked for the German Aerospace Center as a research engineer in liquid rocket propulsion, then joined the European Space Agency as Programme Advisor to the Director General. She is now President of the Portuguese Space Agency, Portugal Space. Sarah Fleischer – Economic Advisor, Luxembourg Space Agency Sarah Fleischer is the Economic Advisor at the Luxembourg Space Agency. She develops financial solutions for Luxembourg’s growing space ecosystem, including the early-stage space fund Orbital Ventures. She is also helping set up the Business Division and Startup Incubator for the forthcoming European Space Resource Innovation Centre, and teaches Entrepreneurial Space Finance at the University of Luxembourg.
